Overview
On Court Academy provides a comprehensive, annual development program designed to give players exactly what they need to excel at the game all in one place. We coordinate the entire development process throughout the year so you no longer have to worry about what's next in your child’s development phase. The program is structured around Suwanee Sports Academy’s Three Pillars of Development:
Pillar #1- Basketball IQ
- Development of Court Awareness-seeing plays develop offensively and defensively
- Ability to pick up basketball concepts and quickly and accurately apply in a game or practice setting
- Ability to effectively communicate nuances of the game to other players
Pillar #2 -Fundamentals of the Game
- We teach the correct footwork, body positioning, ball handling, passing, shooting, balance and control to allow the player to excel on the court
Pillar #3-Game Readiness
- Ability to create scoring opportunities for themselves and their team mates
- Ability to play the game at a fast, but controlled Speed/Pace
- Ability to effectively defend 1 on 1 and in a team setting
- Ability to maintain a high level of energy, efficiency and shooting accuracy throughout game
How it Works
On Court Academy runs 12 months a year, but players may choose to particpate only during the months that work with their schedule and other commitments. In other words, On Court runs year-round but there are no long term commitments.
All players are evalutated and placed into small training groups based on their age and skill level (see Player Devepmental Path below) and each training group meets three times per week during the Spring,Summer & Fall and two times per week during the Winter. Each group will meet for 1 hour sessions on Tuesdays & Thursdays and a 2 hour session on Sunday evenings.

You can expect results. On Court Academy helps players excel at the next level. This program is designed for the player’s committed to excellence in all aspects of their basketball development. Those who work hard and apply what they are learning will certainly move closer to the dreams they hope to achieve in the sport. For some that means earning a Division I college basketball scholarship. For others it simply means making their JV team next year. Regardless of the end goal, any player who is serious about improving in the sport of basketball will find no better alternative than On Court Academy. There is simply no better or more efficient way for a player to spend his or her time improving their fundamentals, basketball IQ and game readiness.
Player Developmental Path
To ensure that players develop at a pace that is best for them, On Court players are assessed by the SSA coaches and placed in one of our training groups based on their age, experience and skill set. The groups designed will provide our players with a clear picture of their developmental path. The groups are clearly defined along with the learning objectives for each group.
